Classes restarting April 21st 2026! Contact Lawrence for further information.
Have you been given someone’s old iPhone or iPad? May be from a well-meaning child or grandchild who really wants you to FaceTime, iMessage, email or generally get with the modern world?
Whether it is that route that brought you to wondering what the heck you can do with this gifted iPhone (often slightly scratched) device, or whether you have splashed out on a brand-new iPad, but are now totally lost as to what to do next, then this is the class for you.
The beginners class starts at the “where’s the on-button” and runs for around 12 weeks, during which your confidence will build using the following Apple's core applications:
Contacts (the address book)
Notes (the place where you jot down anything & everything)
Calendar (where all your U3A meeting and other appointments, birthday, and meeting are kept and shared
Mail (the Apple email client on phones and pads)
Photos (where all your camera and screen shots are stored edited and managed)
Wallet (a place to store everything from your store cards to your airline tickets and hotel reservations
Safari (Apple’s secure browser for the internet)
Calculator (as it says on the tin)
Clocks (time, time-zones, timers, reminders, stop clock, and Alarm clock
And much more …..
Every application that comes free with the devices is covered if you want to know about them and also the infrastructure that allows these devices to function …. and answer the questions you ask:
What is iCloud?
Why do I need an Apple ID?
What is router and a SSID
So come on, don’t be afraid of these marvels of micro-electronics, join us and learn how to plug into the modern world, all in safe, fun and supportive environment. As they say… no previous knowledge required.
If you recognise any of these on your device and wonder what they do and how to use them, you’re at the right place to get answers.
