About us

Boules, or Petanque, is a fun and social game well known to those who visit France or Spain. It can be taken seriously, as witness the regional competitions all over Europe, or light heartedly, between a good gossip and a drink or two. The Tetbury u3a Boules group don’t take ourselves too seriously, so the atmosphere is definitely light and friendly, with many of us taking up the game since retirement. If you’ve never played the game before don’t worry about that - we can explain the simple rules and have spare boules to get you started! You could also watch this video which does a good job of showing you the basics of how the game works in less than 4 minutes.

We aim to play every week throughout the year alternating between Mia Famiglia Italian Restaurant near Malmesbury on Fridays and The Royal Oak in Tetbury on Wednesdays but this is weather-dependent during the winter months.

Do please contact the Group Leader if you are interested in joining the group.
